Spree loosing power

Post by porter92 »

Just started having problem with my '86 Spree now where it won't get going over about 23 mph. Up to this point (for the last year since I have had it) it has run fine, top cruising speed was always 27-30 mph. The bike has 2400 miles on it and it starts and idles fine

After a little research, signs seem to point to problem as one or more of following:

Worn Drive Belt.
Bad Spark plug
Exhaust clogged.
Carbon build up on piston

I was wondering if anyone experienced a similar problem and could offer any advice.

Besides those:

Check your compression.
Check your clutch shoes.
