if its just cracked im sure it wouldnt lean it out too much. i just wouldnt drive it forever like that. for now, u can take a thin piece of sheet metal,(really thin) wrap it around the pipe, and hold it with a couple of hose clamps. obviously this isnt a perminent fix, but should get u through the week.

Depending on how wide the crack is you could also try JB weld.
You mix the two tubes together and smear it over the crack. But you have to let it dry at least 12 hours before you start up your spree. It drys really hard almost like metal. Also use sandpaper to clean up the crack before you apply it so you get a good bond.

this is a good idea right here.

also where is the crack located? Try to get to an auto shop with a welder and they should be able to help u.

If it's a crack, take it to a local muffler shop and have them weld it.

If it's rusted out, you'll need to get a new one.

It shouldn't have cracked. Are all the attachment bolts in place?

i tried jb weld on my exhaust, and after a while it just started to crumble off. (from the heat/oil soaked metal i would guess)

Thats why I said you have to sand the area to be repaired first to get all the oil and dirt off. Its also meant to be just a temporary fix until it can be repaired properly.

Yes, by welding it. Honestly, I don't understand all the patching effort. JB Weld runs $5 a package, and a welder will do the job for that.

Yeah, I found another Spree last weekend. This may be my offroader, haven't decided yet (that or the '84). It has lower miles and seems to run stronger, even without mods. I think I'll bolt up the mods I've put together for the '84 to see how they work on it.

That's what I thought. While you're spending $5 to get it welded, spend another 50 cents and buy 2 more M8 x 25mm bolts. You're lucky you didn't crack the exhaust off at the jug, which we've seen happen here.

I had an expansion chamber snap off at speed once. Same thing, no attachment to the frame. Didn't make that mistake twice.
