87 Spree battery/electric start issue

Post by skelter79 »

Hey everyone.. I am new to the forum and to sprees..

I bought an 87 spree and the electric start did not work, so I replaced the battery and it started right up using the electric start. Fast forward a week later and no such luck.... So I charged the battery and nothing... I even tried another battery that I know was charged (came off another spree) and it still would not do anything. :*:

Any ideas? Thanks!

check the fuse. do you still have lights when key is turned on? on my 86 the starter button actually went out. check the starter relay it may have gone south. find the plug that the starter wires on in and hook battery direct for a sec and see if it turns over(pull spark plug first). maybe possible the starter itself went on permanent vacation. find the manual in the honda service manuals section. d/load it and it will tell you how to perform various tests including starter and i believe relay. good luck and have fun on your spree!! oh yes and welcome to the forum and the world of spree.!!
