$1.17 cost me this!

Post by Gingerbread Man »

That was the price of a new clip. I used the old one. The cylinder is now junk also since Honda stopped production of their over-sized pistons. This is off of a 85 Spree, will a cylinder form a 87 Spree fit? What dose the number inside of the exhaust port mean? And the letter stamped on the exhaust port?

No thanks. I have a 87 Spree. I want to use the cylinder off of that one.

thanks for posting that, a great lesson for us all! and Sorry for your loss of piston and jug though. Is there a big bore kit you could get to replace both possibly, might be a cheap option. I know if I cook my spree piston and jug i'll be ordering a boig bore kit.

The letter "A" or "B" stamped on the cylinder is a bore very slightly oversized. At the factory, Honda had selected pistons into std/A/B types to assemble as a set.

I think Keithw found the 88-93 Elite 0.50mm oversize piston to fit his Spree fine in the link below. The same model year had 0.25mm available too.
