Spree cylinder is out of spec

Post by Gingerbread Man »

My 87 Spree cylinder w/letter "C" measures 41.47mm, service limit is 41.050.

Is my cylinder too worn to use?

My compression is 79psi, will new rings fix my compression?

You may be able to find oversize rings still, if you can, they should fix your compression.

Oversized rings won't get it done. You need a new oversized piston AND rings and then bore the cylinder to match the oversized piston. OH and 79 PSI is way below the minimum speced it the manual, 114 PSI minimum.

You also have the option of utilizing one of Tazz's kits to replace the top end.

First off you need to see what size pistons are available. I have a 2 mm oversized piston in my goodie box to match the 2 mm oversized bore in a cylinder. But they are slated to go on my scooter this summer. As devenex said, one of Tazland001's 44 mm big bore kits is an option too.

I have 2 Spree's one has a TAZ 44mm kit coming in the mail. But on this one I would like to bore it. I can get either a .25 or .50 92 SA50 piston and rings from my Honda dealer. I will bore it at school next week so I need to know what size I should go to.

think i would go with the .50 bore. get your matching piston and rings and get set for break in.
