What kind of oil do you put in a 2000 honda elite? the oil and gas go in differntly so i think its a 4-stroke but others say its a 2-stroke. you but the oil in under the seat and the gas next to echother but in differnt containers, thanks so much.

You need 2-stroke injector oil to put in that oil tank. I recommed using Honda GN2 that can be found at your local powersports dealer.

DO NOT USE REGULAR OIL!

Its a 2stroke and instead of having to mix the gas and oil, it mixes it for you. The oil gets mixed with the fuel right before it goes into the motor. If it was a 4stroke the oil would go in the motor, not in a tank.

Greetings:

10W-30 motor oil is designed to run and stay in a 4-stroke crankcase. (Or in a tank, in the case of Dry-Sump 4-strokes like Harley-Davidson and some exotic cars.) It likely will not burn off correctly when run in the total-loss lubrication system of a 2-Stroke. If it runs at all, it will likely quickly foul the combustion chamber/spark plug/exhaust system with carbon ash and residues, and cause untold other problems.

I presume you are new to 2-strokes. Recommend you read the Manuals. Honda-san specifies GN-2 "or similar" 2-Stroke oil. Some experienced tuners swear by other brands, but all such oils are designed for 2-Strokes. I don't know if anyone here knows for sure what'll happen if you try a quart of Dad's Quaker State in your Elite, simply because we believe it's too risky to try. Until you acquire more knowledge on the subject, that should be convincing enough.

not to confuse you more the a baby in a topless bar, but you do use 10W-30 for gear oil.

as in, the gear case at the back of the motor. The gears that drive the rear wheel need oil and 10w-30 would be fine for that
