heres what i have checked so far, i cranked the engine it stopped at 118 pounds of compression, i t?ook off the exhaust, burnt it out, and put it back on, got new plug, and battery, i looked at the intake reed , how do i tell if it needs to be replaced ? i watched it when i cranked it over, what to look for? , i have great spark, and everything seems fine, i try to kik it by hand on my stand, and it still doesnt pop off or anything!! i know it sounds wierd, what to try next? :coolcruise: :coolcruise:

You do have fuel in the carb float bowl right? If you do then mix up some premix of gas and oil at 32 to 1. Now remove the spark plug and pour a 1/4 of a teaspoon of fuel in the plug hole. Reinstall the plug and crank the engine. If it fires the carb is screwed. If it doesn't chances are you have a timing issue.

have you checked to make sure that you are getting fuel in the carb? if you have spark and air all you need now is fuel. see if your bowl fills when cranking.

how, do i time this thing? i have no carb on it, and i checked the reed valve- how do i tell if the reeds are good , i was watching it and they move and they feel good- how do i tell if they are worn out? so now i have the exhaust back on , the carb off, great spark,118 pounds of compression, and still no pop- bang . nothing at all. heeeeeelp!!!!!!

This is getting old. Image and if you don't have on, you should, it is available for download in the manuals section in Tech documents.

Now if the carb is off, how are you getting fuel into the engine? No fuel no pop, start or run. And don't just be dumping gas into the engine. Use premix of gas and oil or you can ruin the engine.

Oh and forget the reeds, if they are bad it would be obvious and reeds are not problematic on these engines.

Actually if you prime the engine it should at least fire. It won't stay running after the prime is gone but it should fire off.

I'm not so positive about that Bear. There has to be enough negative pressure to get sufficient fuel vaporization and with no carb its pretty iffy. Maybe with the intake partially restricted, or if using starting fluid (which is not advisable anyway).

As long as the reeds are in place (the OP said they were) then the crankcase should pressurize and the engine should at least fire off.

ok , you guys must think im nutz!! :coolcruise: , but today i had fuel in the floatbowl, had good spark, it arked from one -eighth to one - quarter inch away, still 118lbs of compression with about 6-10 kiks, i put exhaust back on, i put a few squirts af pre-mix gas in plug hole with new plug and still no bang-, could it be timing or what? if so how do i time this thing,? i will look in documents until i hear back from one of you spree legends!! i have had probably 30 sprees and never had this kind of problem with any of them!! :hi:

Unless your woodruff key fell off crank and you put flywheel on without it the timing should be good. Are you sure the woodruff key is on the crank?
