so i put in a performance variator on my 01' elite s(sa50p) tonight and now she bogs out super bad when i give it gas. i've cleaned the carb and jets, blew out the fuel lines, removed tank, checked vacuum lines, re-installed the old variator(just to see if it would run again) and nothing. it was running great till i did the mod.
it starts up perfect but if u give full throttle....it *. HELP!!!!!!!
so i put in a performance variator...

Re: so i put in a performance variator...
...how could a variator cause such a completely unrelated problem?
Re: so i put in a performance variator...
yea you need to change the center spring & clutch springs
some people dream of speed, i own your dreams!
Re: so i put in a performance variator...
It didn't. Something went wrong. I might suggest he needs to check the idle mixture setting and if nothing else try enrichening it. But I suspect he still hase a carb issue or a fuel supply issue with the carb still the most likely.

Again with the BS. He swapped the stock variator back on and it still does it. So it has nothing to do with the variator, performance or stock.maddog wrote:yea you need to change the center spring & clutch springs

Greetings:
Basic 2-stroke intuition: If it suddenly quits running right, swap in a new spark plug before you do anything else. If you have a gauge, check compression while the plug is out. Easy and quick to do.
Then go back and check the carb-manifold mounting along with that brown insulator thing. Make sure the "dog-ears" point down. If the bolts don't go tight and stay there, assess and address. Clean the carb again, following the step-by-step instructions in Tech Docs. Determine if carbon build-up is an issue in the header pipe and muffler.
Keep it simple, because you're real close.
