Sometimes, it pays to have multiple motorized problems...
I was recently collecting bits and bobs in order to experiment with clutch tuning on my JC Penny Pinto moped. The engine was supplied by Steyr-Daimler Puch, and the engine code is E50. If you see a Puch moped, odds are good that it has that motor. One of the bits I purchased was this:

It's designed to pull the clutch off of an E50 crank, but I've found that it works perfectly for pulling the fly-side case half off of a Spree too. Took the busted half off of FailSpree's original motor with no fuss today. The tool is $12.50 plus shipping, but it's good know you can use it on more than one engine! I took pictures, which I'll upload later.

As promised, the tool in action. Cameraphone pics, but they work OK.

- It works! The E50 clutch tool made short work of cracking FailSpree's cases.

- The Spree crank in comparison to a Smallframe Vespa crank. The Vespa piston is a 47mm from a 90cc motor, but the crank web and shafts are the same on the Vespa 50s. Amazing how Honda does so much with so little!

A steering wheel puller works the same way, just a FYI.

Re: Another Spree Case Cracking Tool!
Yeah, I saw d3m0nk1d's how-to on that. Didn't have a steering-wheel puller or old variator rollers lying around, but I did have this tool. Figured I'd throw it out there for anyone who didn't have a steering wheel puller but did have moped friends with Puchs.evilone wrote:A steering wheel puller works the same way, just a FYI.
