HELP! honda spree runs but wont move

Post by 86spreeatl »

I was riding and i noticed it was kind of (what seemed like) slipping out of gear..
and all the sudden after the light changed I pulled the throttle back and it wouldnt move..
I can open it up all the way and it wont budge.. after a minute with gas being applied it made a loud CLACK
noise and when i cut it off and was pushing it home when the back wheel was turning it would make the same clack noise every 10-20 feet (while the motor was off) please help me..
I just bought this scooter and havent even had it for a month..

Well the first thing to do is take the trans cover off to take a look. It could be something as little as a broken belt.

PS3 it only does everything.

It looks like this.

I do not know what a 86 spree trans cover looks like. So it could be a bit different but they are all basically the same.

Yup just look for any broken parts. There isn't much under there just basically the clutch, belt and variator so it should be fairly easy to find any broken or damaged parts in there. If everything looks good in there then it could be your gears.

Well I am no expert but I am pretty sure it is fixable without spending to much. My guess it is just a broke belt.

No variator on a Spree.
