I just ran it for 10 minutes and checked to see if either of those were leaking and they aren't. I didn't measure the float because I am not sure how to measure the float. Seems to be idling less sporadically now than it was before, and it seems like it runs a little better when warmed up completely.
OK, don't take this wrong but Image. And if you tell me you don't have a manual I'm gonna scream.

Why do you guys think you can work on this stuff without a manual and reading the d*** manual? :eyeroll:

Now honestly, Bear; How could anyone take that "wrong"? I recommend you refrain from typing when you feel exasperated. You won't need as much blood pressure medicine.

i dont know...bear has a point...
i only ask questions that the manual doesnt cover.
before i ever started posting on here i read the spree manual front to back.
then i bought my aero80 and did the same w/ that manual
now i'm on my aero50. the first thing i did before even removing the plastics was read the manual.
saves a lot of time.
so...yeh, i agree w/ bear. i think most guys just are opposed to manuals and asking for directions.

Had this wife for over 30 years (she's the second one) and sometimes she stresses me by not very often. Besides that she shoots better than I do, so not stressing her is the important thing. Oh, she rides quads, scooters and hunts with me and works 24 shifts so I am unsupervised 24 hours at a time, so what's to stress over.

Ok so I have come to the conclusion that my carb is the culprit. I've cleaned it the best I can with the best chemicals the State of California will allow me to buy, but it still has white all inside. I'm thinking of getting a new carb, since this one is beyond my ability.

Yes I'm lucky, but there has been and still is a lot of hard work by both of us to make it work and trying the things the other one likes. Her work schedule has been weird for 20 years now. A day on, a day off, a day on, a day off, a day one and 4 days off. And yes, those are 24 hour day. When she was working full time and attending Paramedic school I was basically a single parent. A lot of give and take. She was my primary pit crew when I was racing. She even learned to back trailer in to the water. An amazing woman, so yeah I'm lucky to have her in my life.

That is caused by corrosion from the alcohol in the fuel collecting water and then the fuel evaporates leaving the water to sit in the carb causing all kinds of *, thanks EPA. Get a small wire brush and eliminate the stuff. A small screw drive and a couple of dental picks will help. Unless the corrosion has eaten most of the way thur the casting, the carb is salvageable.

Would that residue lead to problems causing my engine to run so lean? I cleared out all the tubes and the main jet/emulsion tube, and the float is correctly measured.

I've had many a carb in that condition brought to me back in the day of being an outboard mechanic and everyone of them had some issue or another, so yes it could cause your problem and the bad part is if you don't clean all that crap out of there, it can break loose and plug something up very easily.
