what's the best way to put circlips in? i found out by looking. bear said get a pair of needle nose pliers and put a notch in them. i done that and was able to hold onto it.
another question. the base gasket, it's not lining up around all the ports on the bottom of the cylinder. should i just cut it out? it's going to be off. will that be ok? the inside of the ports has a line of metal, and gaskets don't have that with a gasket around it. is it going to be fine, with the no gasket around the ports? i'll get a picture.
left here, is how it looks when i put it on, the right, i've used a knife and sander on it.
here's closer of the right, with the edges around it. see the inside metal, no gasket, and no gasket has that.

Re: circlips and base gasket
Also be sure to stuff a clean into the crankcase around the piston in case the circlip gets dropped... splittng a block to assure that the circlip did not fall into the crankcase is not fun!
