Now what?

Well, I decided to take a look at the spree that I have been trying to get running the past 2 months. Finally realized the oil pump was bad because it will run on premix. So, it runs now, I adjusted the idle but what happens is when I give it throttle, especially when I am sitting on it it bogs and kills. Will run indefinately on stand. Any iders? Thanks!

If the oil pump was actually bad and keeping the engine from starting, adding oil to the gas would not fix it. Mainly because no oil would damage the cylinder and piston and nothing would make it run then.

I suspect you have a carb issue still and need to disassemble it, clean it per instructions in Wikispreedia tech section and try again.

There is another possibility, is the air cleaner box, with a good air filter and top on the box properly installed? Is the pipe from the box to the carb sealed properly" If not, you are lucky to have gotten the engine started. It will not run fast without these items in place.

Just went through this with my 86' Spree... and it WAS the pipe from the Air Box to the Carb... sealed it tight and was off like a rocket :) Bear was the one to mention that to me too... and he was so right :2thumbs:
