Spree takes a while to start

Post by Todler »

Hello,

I have a 1985 Honda Spree that is in pretty good shape, and runs well. The only problem that I have is that it starts hard. If I have not used it in a while, it takes several minutes of cranking to start. After it is started, or I have been riding it, it starts fast. I have replaced the spark plug, and checked to make sure the muffler is not plugged. Any thoughts on what the issue could be?

Thanks a bunch.

I have already replaced the battery, but I didn't think about the choke. Forgive me for asking as I am not familiar with how the choke works on the spree. Is it an automatic choke or where would I find information on how to troubleshoot/fix the choke?

It's called the bystarter on Spree. Read up on it in tech docs. I'm betting yours has issues.

if its been in storage for a while you should definately clean the carb and check tank for rust.
