Alternative Battery For '84 Spree

Post by jwb1972 »

I'm sure there is a simple answer to this question ~ The '84 Honda Spree calls for a 12v 3.5amp battery. Is this the only battery you can use? Is this type battery called for because of the size of the battery compartment? The reason I am asking this is a friend recently gave me a Xtreme 360 Electric Scooter. It has 2 12v 12amp batteries. I have 2 Sprees needing batteries just to make sure they will run and to test the electrical on the Sprees. The two "free batteries" I have would work great for this purpose, if they would not damage anything because of the high amps?!? ~ Lastly what is the best source to get batteries for the Spree?

they will probly work but i know my aero has 7 amp fuses so 12 amps might blow your fuses? my main concern is that the batteries wont last long because they're a utility battery meant to be run down almost completely where as a a car or in your case a scoot battery is meant to be topped off at all times by the alternator and never run down. idk try it in one spree and keep some fuses handy if it doesn't blow as soon as you put it in then ride around and see if the battery stops holding a charge

The battery is speced two ways, one for it's power output and the other is for it's physical size. If that battery will fit in the battery box it will work.

bc117, shut up you don't know crap.

i know that there is a difference and a reason a boat/rv battery isn't used in a car so i believe the same would hold true for a an electric scooter battery vs a gas scooter battery, now its true i know next to nothing about electricity but im pretty sure theres a reason why a cordless drill battery ain't a good alternative either

You have no clue about a boat/RV battery or a starting battery or a dual purpose battery and what they can be used for. So shut up. You drill analogy proves you don't understand batteries at all.
