Edited: New thread but someone please help! 85 spree

Post by frenchiehxc »

ok i have cleaned every single part of my carb like a champ.. no spot was untouched.. i got new needle valve put it in and it STILL wont run.. its turning on and bogging extremely low then just dies out.. if i touch the throttle it dies even faster. the throttle stop screw has to be almost all the way out to run.
so far i have: clened carb and replaced needle valve.
Replaced fuel filter and air filter.
drained gas tank throughy petcock and refilled with new gas..
replaced spark also stuck thumb in the spark hole and cranked it.. blew my thumb right out.
i have set the carb back to factory settings and still nothing..
the battery is almost dead but i have a duracell portable pack that hooks right up to it..

and here are the links to all my other posts..

You can NOT just twist things, you have to know what you are doing, which you obviously don't have a clue. Go back to the factory recommended settings and then turn the idle speed screw in 1 turn. Image

Do you have a petcock on this scoot?

What condition is your autobystarter in?

Have you taken a look at the spark plug between these bogging sessions?

Have you taken a close look at the actual float to make sure it isn't hanging up anywhere, or maybe cracked?

Between all these cleaning sessions have you repaced the float bowl gasket?

First things first though.....set your carb to the recommended factory settings!

Greetings:

Consider the possibility that it isn't the carb. At all. Compression? Spark plug? Flywheel timing? Reed valves? Crank Seals? Vacuum leak? All the carb-cleaning and screw-spinning in the world won't fix those.

You need to learn better forum etiquette.

"sorry to make a new thread but someone please help!!@!" is a horrible thread title. Honestly, I've been ignoing your threads, as your titles all miss relevant info.
A good thread title will contain:
bike type (Spree, Elite, Aero with year)
what's wrong

a good title for this thread:
my NQ50 still doesn't run after a million carb cleanings, can you help?

I've just looked, and you have 6 different threads all pertaining to this same problem. Thanks for clogging up the forum.
From reading through your posts, it looks like you never checked the Technical Documents section here on the forum, and are going blind and nutty. Try there, read the service manual, read what the guys have been suggesting you do, do it, and if it doesn't work, reply to your own thread saying what you tried and what happened.
Surely someone would be willing to help you out.

but more "* boo hoo it won't work threads" makes no friends.

i agree with bear. if it starts up but dies, your bike obviously isn't idling. turn the screw in a bit.
also... you may be getting too much or too little air; or too much fuel.
i got my gf's spree running for a second, then it stopped...seems its back to its old tricks of fuel flowing through the vacuum line of the petcock.

Good point wheelman. I particularly like number 1, 2, and 6 in your line up.

I don't claim to be an expert, but from my personal experience I have a gut feeling about your petcock situation. Whether it's bad itself, or the vacuum line going to it is faulty.
