Honda Spree and Elite 50 Forums

Was wondering if anybody knew some good sites to find info on maintenance and custom building for a 1986 Honda Spree.

I am working right now to pick up this 1986 Honda Spree. I would eventually (once I have possession of it) learn how to work on it and possibly do some upgrades and/or general spiffing up. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Well a good start would be where I can pick up some parts for decent price. I know I've seen some stuff sell on Ebay but I thought maybe there are some sites that cater to my specific needs. Also (which this will sound stupid) I need to figure out whether or not I'm gonna be able to ride the d*** thing. I'm about 5 ft 11' and weigh 195 and I'm worried it will either be too small or put too much stress on the engine.

Also if there is a tech manual somewhere I can download or maybe a thread on this site I can use as reference for when I might need to make repairs would be handy.

I already know I have to replace the rear brake cable and potentially the back side panels.

The forum member Tazland001 is the guy who sells these on ebay.

The 44mm big bore kit will give you more power (57cc) and make your scooter take off faster.

The gears that he sells will make your top speed increase from 32mph to about 38mph

I am 6ft and 230lbs and a stock spree can haul me around no problem.

If you want to go faster than 40mph or need to get to 40mph in a hurry......swap in a 94-01 honda elite engine.

Awesome thanks for the info. I'm pretty stoked on this little scoot. I've heard good things about them and I will definitely put good use to it being in a metropolitan area like Portland. Apparently our city also has some honda spree gangs that go around. I haven't been able to locate any info on their meeting spots,but think it would be fun to put put around on these things with some fellow honda enthusiasts.

The other thing I needed to find out is if there are any tell tale signs that one of these little sprees are past the point of return. Just wanna make sure I don't invest in a scrap scoot.

Haha no nooo I just picked this thing up today actually. Was waiting on the guy to drive up from Corvallis to here in Portland with it. I actually picked it up on a barter trade. I traded an old fender I had for it. I think I actually got the better end of the deal on that one truth be told. That guitar isn't the greatest,but he seemed pretty excited. We were exchanging new hobbies I guess you could say. He was just picking up guitar,and I really wanted to learn how to rebuild and customize one of these Honda Sprees.

Going to have to save a my next paycheck for parts. I'll keep you posted once I start the decking this spree out. I am definitely gonna keep the green though. I really have grown to like it quite a bit. The back side panels (which are off currently) are still the original black with pink sticker logo. I'm probably gonna clean that off and choose a color to do them.I was thinking maybe another lighter shade of green. Either that or go solid all that color of green and do some sort of black and white trimming.I also need to pick up some new mirrors,a battery,a rear brake cable,and maybe a bore kit
