Slow from ~10-22 MPH
My scooter accelerates pretty good from 0-10 and about 25 to the lower 30's. However, it is pretty slow and seems to lack something from about 10-22 MPH. If I am taking a right turn and am already going 10 MPH, it takes a long time before the acceleration (around 22-25MPH) is good again. Also, if I am going up a hill and am at 10-15 MPH at the bottom, I will never accelerate until I get to flat ground again (or it will accelerate really slowely). Any ideas? The scooter is an 85 Aero50 with 2100 miles. I am thinking I probably should get a new belt, possibly have flat rollers?

Flat rollers or they are too heavy.

I replaced the belt on my S when I got it, it had 4k miles on it . The difference was night and day, the mid range was suffering big time before the new belt!bakaracer wrote:and belt if you haven't already.

Re: Slow from ~10-22 MPH
Thanks those were the things that I suspected. Should I get stock belt and rollers or can I get better performance ones? I recall someone talking about a wider belt and how much better it was.
Also, I don't know if my variator has grease, if it does, it is suggested to clean it out and not use any, correct?

Re: Slow from ~10-22 MPH
if your bike is stock, the stock belt and rollers are fine.iyou might fine some 9.5g rollers that are cheaper than the stock ones. 1.5grams total weight lighter will help in overall performance. yes take the grease out of the variator and don't put any back in there. the grease will make the rollers flatspot faster.DKAudio wrote:Thanks those were the things that I suspected. Re: Slow from ~10-22 MPH
The stock ones are 10 grams, right? I guess I will just stick with the stock weight and a stock size belt. Anyone know where I can get a good belt? Also, is there a way to get the pulley nut off without an impact?bakaracer wrote:if your bike is stock, the stock belt and rollers are fine.iyou might fine some 9.5g rollers that are cheaper than the stock ones. 1.5grams total weight lighter will help in overall performance. yes take the grease out of the variator and don't put any back in there. the grease will make the rollers flatspot faster.DKAudio wrote:Thanks those were the things that I suspected. Re: Slow from ~10-22 MPH
Greetings:
I can confirm Stock Aero weights were 10g. Honda dealer's Bando belt is just fine. My dealer looked up the aftermarket catalog and ordered one that was $17 instead of $25. When it came in, it turned out to be the exact same belt as stock.
Yes, there is an Easy Way to immobilize the outer pulley so you can spin off the nut. File a notch into the jaws and clamp it on. It hits the ground if you install it angling forward and holds itself and the pulley without needing to hold the... um, Holder. Installed the other way - think of the letter Q - you can use a torque wrench to reinstall the nut.

if you don't have an impact wrench, get one of these. This is what I use to take the face drive off and put it on.

Re: Slow from ~10-22 MPH
Thanks for all the info.
I was gonna but some rollers on ebay but noticed different sizes for 10g (16x13 or 18x14) does it matter which ones I get? I'm looking at item 380343776956 are these good?

Re: Slow from ~10-22 MPH
You need the 16X13, the 18X14 are for an Aero 80.DKAudio wrote:Thanks for all the info.

Re: Slow from ~10-22 MPH
you need new piston rings!! not enough compression
Re: Slow from ~10-22 MPH
For compression to slow the scooter down that much it would be a b**** to start. So no it is not compression. Rookies and noobees should be silent and learn.andythespreeowner wrote:you need new piston rings!! not enough compression

Re: Slow from ~10-22 MPH
Man, I called every Honda dealer and scooter place within a 20 mile radius. Absolutely no one stocks a 641 x 15.5 x 30 belt and only one place had rollers but they were not 16 X 13 10g. This is frustrating, I wanted to work on it today so I could ride it to work next week. Guess I'll be ordering online but I cannot find the same website that carry's both either. Also, I have been trying to look for a Bando belt, after some searching it appears that the correct current part number is 23100-GG2-751 but again, I cannot find it, I've found crosses but not a Bando which everyone seems to like. If someone knows an online retailer that carries both these things for a reasonable price I would be very thankful.
