85 spree cold start problems

Post by starsnbars »

my 85 spree had problems starting when it hasn't been run in a while I have to kick start it for at least 20 min and then it starts to fire. Once this thing gets going it runs perfect, and can start first crank when its been running for a while. Compression is 110+, good spark, and i can drain fuel out of the carb from the float screw after a crank or two.

Bystarter problem?
It's only been maybe 25 miles since I have rebuilt the carb and it has a brand new air filter.

Any insight is greatly appreciated guys!

Sounds more like a low manifold vacuum or a shot petcock preventing a decent fuel supply while cranking.

Instead of kicking for that long try priming your carb first. If it starts likely a fuel issue.
