It looks like I need to set my target high temps in a higher range. I'm seeing up to 400. I've read that above 350 is the danger zone. Any comments on problems with soft seize temps on the 72 cc polini would be helpful to set up top temps. Again I don't mind running hotter as long as the bore isn't being damaged or life reduced. I would like to be able to make some long runs 40-50 miles anyway. I am considering the comments on gears too but if I can get the temp under control, then I will stay with the current set-up. Technically the gears are 9.8 to 1 (15*42).
Those are probably too short for the polini bore you have
Maybe for a drag racing scoot they would be okay but i can only imagine what it sounds like when you reach for the throttle :nervous:

Castor is much thicker than the Honda GN2. Read to use as a pre-mix only. Not suitable for use in the pump. I found that at WOT the temperatures were lower 333 vs 360. At 1/4-3/4 throttle still had temperatures in the 360 to a max of 379. All in all I feel better about the castor because it doesn't break down and continues to be an excellent lubricant above 350 degrees. I appreciate the advice. I am running a 55 pilot and 140 main. I may be able to drop the main jet back to 138. I am considering running a larger pilot though.

Thanks for all the help on my questions. I raised the needle one click and this seems to have solved the problem. I am now running in the 340-350 range at 1/2-3/4 throttle consistently on long hauls. The castor seemed to help with wot temps too. I also went ahead and put the smaller 138 jet back in for the main. The pilot is still at 55. Runs great and temps are good for long hauls. Still checking into the gears. Current top speed is 55 MPH running the 9.8 to 1 gears with a performance keli variator. Running 9000 rpm wot.
