Intake mod question (Spree)

I have an 86' Spree (stock) and I took the dremel to my intake... made it look like the one in the wiki.
My take off and climb to @20 is much improved; however, where I used to get a top speed of @ 32-35, now I'm lucky to hit 25mph. And that is at half throtle. Past half is dead... bogs a little, but not too bad.

My question is what else should I do in conjunction with this mod? I moved the throtle needle up one... no change. Moved it down... again, no change.

No vac leak that I can find. Fuel flow is good.

Any suggestions?

there is better flow now giving more air needs more gas to go with it.

Ok, so I finnally got my new main jet... next step up was a #70. So with the Intake mod and a 70 main jet, what can I realistically expect... from the one ride I've taken so far, it seems that my stock intake and jet set up gave better performance.

Am I missing something? I was getting 32-35mph with stock... now I'm at 27-30??

I dont want to do the pully mod yet... my low end is bad enough.

Any input would be appreciated.

Yes, I had it up one from center... seemed to stutter a bit.
Moved it down one from center... no stutter, but no improvement.

new belt? check: tire pressure, air filter. spark plug, compression. maybe old stiff reed's?

Just put on a new belt 3 weeks ago, good strong spark from 4 month old plug,
New clear fuel line/vac line, tire pressure is dead on,
No compression tester, but that has never been a problem... I'll see if I can borrow my neighbor's tester...
Reeds are good... well, look good. no obvious damage or gaps.

I'm at a loss

don't know if reeds get brittle with age or not, if they do they may not be able to open and close fast enough to delivery the fuel required for wot. just a thought and not from any personal
experience.
