Post by bluebullitt2003 »

ok so.....im a NOOB at this scooter stuff. give me a car and ill do just fine, but how in the world do you take of the rear tire on an 85' spree. I got the front tire off in about 3 minutes, but the rear......what the *. I whaled on that rear bolt and almost started to strip it so i stopped.....dont want to pay out rageous prices at a shotp to that the tire taken off.

any ideas or is there something im missing?

spray it with some multilube or at least some motor oil, place a stick through the rim so that it braces against the engine, put your socket wrench on the nut and get a longer pipe for leverage to try that. do you have an impact wrench?

i've dealt with some so stuck i had to use an impact And spray lube. I'm sure you're not doing it wrong, they can just get very very stuck.
If it don't fit, force it. If it breaks, it needed to be replaced anyway.

ok thats what i though. i dont have an impact wrench, and i dont really have any place to put it on a jackstand, so i guess ill get a long * wrench to get that bolt off. Ill hit up autozone tonight and get some penetrating oil, see if we can get that thing loosened up

mine came right off , with a short-handled half inch wratchet .

I locked the rear brake, sat both wheels on the ground, got it off all by myself

maybe hit it with some PBblast, if it looks rusty

you can do what SuprasnSprees suggests and tap the handle of the socket wrench with a hammer to break it loose, put a little motor oil behind the nut for good measure :D

Mine was stuck too. Tried all the above suggestions (other than shooting it or welding/selling  ) and ended up having to cut it off. I have an impact driver... all that did was strip the nut. Good luck

When you put the axle nut back on, put a little muscle on it too. Torque is 47-58 ft/lbs. Peak reading matches the torque of a Geo Metro engine :D
