1983 Aero 50 hard start when cold

I PICKED UP A 83 aero with 795 miles runs great after I get it started but when it sits for awhile hard to start very long crank if i give it any gas it dies,after several tries it starts

you bystarter may be bad..
do a compression test as well it wont hurt..

the bystarter test good like 5 ohms

im no you read it a lot but clean the carb... if the hole blow the bystarter is plug it may be what is going on

I agree with swimming free, also check to make sure the o-ring on the bystarter isnt cracked or damaged

I've got two '83s and they both have this problem. One though, after riding it more frequently, the problem seems to be subsiding. Either way, when you clean the carb, note the pinhole orifice in the float bowl, and the emulsion tube that just presses in the carb under the mainjet. These are both easily overlooked. I think air screw setting may have helped too.

there is a small hole you can see when you look now were the slide goes its the hard part to get clean if you cant see thou it its not clean anuff use compress air or a spray cleaner to make sure its clean

Ok,took carb apart everything got blown out good will put back together tomorrow.I didn't seen any restriction wish me luck! :coolcruise:

Bear, Why doubt ye the eighty-three? Could be '84s I guess. One thing's for sure: They're WAAAAYY cleaner than any scooter that old has any right to be! Nice quiver, RZ. :thumbsup:

looks like 83 to me,as far as clean * yea I have 2 84 gyros and 2 85 sprees just as clean.Very nice collection thanks for the pics.

soaked and cleaned,rode last night .It started up this morning looks like I'm riding the old girl to work.
