af16 issue

Ok here is the scoop been having trouble with this since I tried installing a stock pipe on a contesta bore so I swapped back to the 43mm bore to keep from damaging my good kit. I seems like the motor is getting too much air since i have to use a 48 or higher pilot and turn the air screw almost all the way in, it will idle fine with the screw all the way in on a 21mm oko. The other day i was riding and it soft seized on me so I dismantled it completely to find that the bottom ring had stuck and the piston was all gummed up from the klotz super techniplate i was running. I swapped the kit after i cleaned up the piston and bore onto my other af16 that i completely rebuilt with new seals just to eliminate leaking seals as my problem but still the same. I have checked everything and my only conclusion is that A. my head is leaking around the sparkplug or B. my 21mm oko is somehow gone bad. Havent done a leak down test. Is there any way a carb can suck in too much air even though everything is set right? Any suggestions beyond the basic stuff?

just got my stock back on the frame and the stock airbox hooked up and she purrs like a kitten and the idle/air mixture screws are set and respond as they should so it was definately not my bottom end. I hate to spend money on something and it not be the problem. May order a head for the 43mm bore and see if that is the issue for around 25 dollars

Pressure test it. You might still have a air leak and adding the airbox is just helping mask it.

I swapped everything onto my other af16 that i completely rebuilt with new seals etc and same problem occurs so I am pretty sure its the carb that is at fault and downsouth...the stock airbox wont fit on an OKO carb
Since it started with the Contesta I dont think it is my head leaing around the spark on the 43mm bore. I have a 24mm oko on the way so I will know for sure if its the carb or not within a few days.
