no exhaust gasket?

i dont see one of these on my exhaust will it cause low compression in the engine? I have one on order but it wont be here for a week will it hurt to run without one???

It will run but not for long :P I wouldnt run without the gasket

is it a metal gasket? does it get stuck to the exhaust i cant seem to find it on there. i have a new top end coming tomorow would it hurt to start it up for a few minutes to see how it runs??

Without the gasket you will leak air into your bore causing a lean condition and possible lean siezure.

No it will not effect compression until you melt the piston.

Alright maybe thats why the piston broke in the first place ill wait till i get it to fire it up thanks!

Just a thought - You may want to order a couple - they are cheap and you may end up taking your muffler off again (to change brake shoes, tire, etc.). I believe the manual recommends replacing it each time - probably could get away with re-use but it's nice to have a couple around.

I have ran without them. Just an exhaust leak, also reduces performance.

I've done it on dirt bikes jetted and mixed rich enough. It works fine then.

okay thanks guys im going to put my top end in on sunday so i just want to start it up and make sure that fixed the problem sounds like i can and it wont hurt it.. i get the gasket and tires end of nxt week so then she'll me road ready!!
