RED 86 Spree MAKEOVER
Hi I am Brandt and I am a EET student at Purdue. I love honda scooters some past scooters I fixed up were Elite, Ruckus, and Spree. So I bought this Honda 1986 Honda Spree about a year and I am still working on it. It has 5684 miles I bought it off a guy on craigslist for $65. Now I am up at college and restoring it in my free time so I will have a little ride for getting around on campus. Here is a timeline of pictures of its progress.
Then I did ton of body work and painting. Also I did a base coat of flex primer to ensure the top coat would stay on with the plastic flexing.
Didn't have the air box hose so I made this.
Just about to put the new seat cover on it.
This is the aftermarket ignition I installed on it.
This is what it looks like with all the body panels just slapped on it(not screwed on).
So far I have installed a new starter motor, honed the cylinder walls, cleaned the carbs, repainted it, rewired it, throttle assembly, key ignition, coil, and front+rear brake cables.
I use to be able to get the scooter to start up with the kick start but then it would die soon after.(I think the problem their is the air box, I need a lid for it). Also the starter motor I bought isn't even trying to turn over the engine. I think something is wrong electrically with it.
1st I want to get the scooter to be able just to kick start. So is anyone selling an air box lid or know of some other option that works great.
2nd After the scooter is able to kick start then I will deal with the starter motor.
Also my blog has more pix of my progress on the scooter.http://www.tumblr.com/blog/theprojectboy

I like the clear hose from the carb to the airbox, just get a hose clamp on the carb end and you will be set. The clear hose looks really cool

Don't know if you took it off or its missing but you need to make sure the cooling fan is installed before running it, otherwise the top end will heat seize.

Hope that's not the new seat cover ripped at the seam. Great shop in INDY, that Two Wheels... ...Bill Eberle runs the place and was always helpful with my projects during my Indy residence. Next time you have Monical's pizza, think of me....

Re: 1986 NQ50 Honda Spree
I recently purchased the fan and I just put on the new seat cover.
Now all I need is fan cover, air box lid, and install the rear brake cable I have.
Also need to paint the wheels + Engine Cover(probably flat black or green) and I might install these LED bulbs into the headlight once everything is done.
The horn on it doesn't work or it is not their so I think it would be awesome to get a horn like this:

You need to get the actual rubber hose that goes there or you will have an air leak and the scooter will run like crap.
And get a horn too.

Re: RED 86 Spree MAKEOVER
no if you go to autozone and buy a tube of gaskit maker and put some around where the hose mates with the airbox, it should be pretty airtight

just get the correct part
there are plenty of people on this site that can hook you up with that tube for cheap.

You seem to like pushing part sales. Just an observation.Trafficjamz wrote:ILLEGALLIFESTYLZ311 wrote:no if you go to autozone and buy a tube of gaskit maker and put some around where the hose mates with the airbox, it should be pretty airtight

I just like to see things done correctly.
The smallest air leaks can cause these small engines to run badly and overheat.
This is a blown engine waiting to happen.
There are lots of people on this forum with the correct parts....... why half * your build, when it can be done right?
