um. crap. My rear shock is on the replace list.
last 5 pages all say no dice, not carried anymore.
what shock can be substituted on my Aero80?
I wouldn't mind something stiffer than the stock one.
would it be safe to just take the tired shock to a honda shop and see what they have?

Whats the length of your shock and does it bolt up the same as a 50cc model's?

shoot. just saw your post. I'll go measure the thing in the morning...ah, I see it is morning. Um, after I go to bed and get back up again. I haven't looked at aero 50 shocks, unfortunately. mine bolts on the carb side, under the seat, about a 30 degree angle down to the mount by the wheel. Only on the one side, with a coil over it. I'm pretty sure it is the original. It's so squishy my 140 pound neice can bottom it out.

Length undetermined, however the top mount is "eye" and the lower mount is "clevis"...

yes, it seems it is 10.5 inches on the nose from eye to clevis, with the eye pointed toward my butt and the clevis toward the rear of scooter.

I have a parts 1985 Aero 80. It has all the shocks on it. If you are interested, contact me via PM.

Well if a aero 50 shock will fit, so will the elite and ruckus shocks (as well as the aftermarket ones). I know the ruck shock made a world of difference on my aero 50.

Aftermarket is the way to go, just meassure the coil width, they make short necks or offset if it gets to close to the tire.

yes, I noted that the stock one leaves little space between itself and the tire. I am hoping to find a used Aero shock in good shape. I thought it was my weight, but my neice, who weighs about half what I do, says the thing slams her around on bumps too.
For now, I get my keister off the seat when I see a bump too late to slow down and/or avoid. Not a safe solution, control-wise.
