I have a 1984 Aero that I cannot start unless I use ether. The battery has plenty of juice and it starts right up with the starting fluid. Any suggestions on how to fix this and what is the problems of using ether?

Clean the carburetor and stop using ether you will smoke your bore if you continue to do that.

If the carburetor is truly clean then an air leak may be present or a faulty by starter

so im going to post this tip for you and everyone is going to tell me im stupid but it works for my 84.

1. turn the kill switch to run but have the ignition key in the off position. kick the bike over two times, then turn the key to the "on" position and kick it over. should start right up.

glad to see this mentioned, and it makes me wonder: why must I lock the brake to use the starter, but to kickstart, just key on ignition to start? It'll kickstart with brake on or off... hmmm... :*:
thx.

Works just the same if the ignition is on and the run/stop switch is in the off position. And all you are doing is priming the engine which can be done with everything on.
