Hey guys and gals, I'm new to the forum and scootering but I just recently purchased a 85 aero 50 for 75 bucks, the only thing it's been sitting for maybe two years? I am pretty mechanically incline, been working on cars for years so I went through normal procedure of begin a tear down. Now so far I have taken off the all the plastic parts and drained the gas tank bc it's had some sediment in it. I have a battery in and the starter still works I think, I am planning on getting a new spark plug and cleaning out the carb. Besides those things what else do you guys recommend? I will post pictures of the thing later but it's in a two year sitting condition...

Anyways thanks for the help!

Naveen

Along with basic mechanical skills, the service manual tells you how to do most of these jobs.

However our failed education system teaches no one to read anything before asking questions.

They have been taught that everything should be spoon fed to them.

Well duh bear what kind of super world do you think we live in...

And when i first started on this site and you guys gave me the link to the manual i read it cover to cover and there were still many questions unanswered you kind of have to have minor knowledge of these things to be able to read inbetween the lines . :imo:

thanks for the advice guys, I actually hadn't downloaded the service manual yet but now I have it and I will check the compression! Bear seems to have an extremely extensive history of Aeros so I appreciate all the help I can get!

Bear has a lot more than that. He made a living as a 2 stroke mechanic and raced 2 strokes. But you proved my point, trying to work on something without reading up on it does not teach you anything.
