86spree new belt failure clutch problems. only 500 miles!!!!

hellow fellow pederz!! I have some clutch problems with 86 spree !!!! iv replaced belt about 500 miles ago and noticed a thumping sound from belt housing the other day so ! took cover off and the new belt is cooked !! the side facing out looks like somthing cut out a grove 8in long .But other side of belt is perfectly fine ?? also have tore down rear clutch to inspect! shoes r fine sping has worn groves on clutch shaft!! im thinking new torq spring ?? any suggestions wood b great

Agreed, the Spree clutch is 100% bulletproof and in all likelyhood shouldn't have been taken apart.
The second belt failure is related to the installation. Right belt? Drive face properly installed, fully seated? Enough torque?
Something along those lines.

ok got looking at drive face and on the splines appears to have locktite on and will not come off !!when replaced! i did not remove to inspect!! but im guessing that thatz the culprit. is their a washer behind drive face ??an shud it b locktited?

well got the dive face off and !after inspection found that some one has been here before theirs a little homemade washer on crank and u can tell where drive face must of came loose at one time because of ware markes on case,the back side of drive face also shows sighn of woble!! will a used drive face fix or ???

Pictures are really going to help here. You could have a damaged drive face or spline. Post some large detailed pictures :smile:

You need a new thrust washer. Yours (like mine) got loose enough to cause friction and wore out the middle section only to have it "let go" and end up around the shaft.

Here's a pic of a new thrust washer and what I believe to be my OLD thrust washer.

Um no but you could order it from your local honda dealer.

cheapcycleparts (google it) has a parts microfiche and you can order from them.

But I prefer to get the honda part no. and then call the dealer, no shipping $$ required.

o ok great didn"t no it was still able to be purchased alot of other stuff was no longer avalible!! have a good one and thankz!!
