Alright here it goes been working on this bike for almost a year, and now it wont start. I had a bbk on my spree that somehow got a crack in the cylinder and caused damage to both the piston and rings so i got a whole new top end. In the mean time i noticed the crank on that engine was having trouble turning over later found it had crap in the bearing so i unbarried another engine i had laying around that had a good crank and turned over great. So i started the swap gears clutch pulleys and all. When i got the new bbk i put that one on and got everything put together. Compression is around 125 psi. Has good spark (meaning spark jumps over 1/2" to a ground and using ngk plugs no. 6's brand new). Im using a 19mm carb with electric choke along with the ct intake. I took apart and inspected the intake no problems, reeds looked fine and everything was operating properly. So a colleague told me the timing may be off due too a bad key. I inspected that cleaned an reassembled key looked great. Still wont start. I put mix down the plug whole and nothing. I inspected both crank seals looks great. Im stumped.... Anyone have any ideas??????

Inspected seals both looked to be in great shape no cracks no dirt no seperation... PLugs are gapped to spec.

As long as the wooduff key is installed right you cant have messed up timing. Cdi is my guess as well.

A timing light answers both questions. Don't forget that if you line up the timing mark at 0 degrees and the piston is at TDC you can confirm mechanical timing.

I think I may have similar problems to you. I have a spree that sounds like it's in the same condition. Did you ever figure out the culprit and get it running?

Did you make sure the exhaust is free and clear and the filter isn't over oiled?
