Post by bigluelok »

Alright so I bought this scooter about a year ago and just now getting to it. It turns over but doesn't fire up. It has spark so that's not the issue. has new battery
All help is greatly

I have been told to
1. plug in the nipple on the carb. that has no hose going to it.
2. clean the carb.
3. check/replace fuel filter
4. try to start it with starter fluid

anything else i should do?

check compression. bad compression will keep it from starting. its usually the carb though. use carb cleaner and shoot it through all the jets.

don't use starting fluid, use the fuel/oil mix you will run it. Starting fluid will not lubricate the cyl. it will actually wash any oil off the cyl and possibly cause you all sorts of grieve. Yes check compression and Clean the carb, look in the wiki for tips and proper procedure. change the plug. Good luck

What is the status of the petcock ?
Is it functioning as intended with vacuum being used to open the diaphram ?
OR...has it been bypassed and is functioning as OPEN all the time ?
You say the vacuum inlet on the intake manifold was "like that" when you bought it, AND it was running then. ???????
This scooter can NOT run worth a d*mn with this inlet open.
Something seems amiss here....

Alright so I cleaned our the carb, and the elite starts when I spray starter fluid in to the carb but it dies after a few seconds. It will not hold idle and for some reason or another gas isn't getting to the engine any ideas. I know the jets are good as I looked through the holes and saw the sky so they aren't gunked up. Any one know what else I should check?
Also the Carb is getting fuel cuz if I open the screw on the carb bowl fuel pours out.
