recently did a load of work on my scooter, changed spark plug, cleaned carb, new fuel lines, new oil lines, cleaned out oil and fuel tanks and filled them up with new fuel and oil, charged battery, new air filter element etc etc, i come to start it this morning and for some reason it just wont start up, it started up fine 2 days ago, the engine is turning over but just will not fire up. as i knew the great bear would say compression before anything so checked that its at 124psi, ive got a good strong spark, ive got fuel going in, the muffler was cleaned out so i know its not that, the intakes all fine, everything id normally check is all good, but it will not start. any ideas on what could be up ?
any help much appreciated
thanks

Hi There,

Mine did this a few months ago. I presume you took the carb off to clean it? I would check the reed valve. I fitted a malossi one and it was slightly open which created flooding. I put the old one back on and it fired first time. Worth a look. Top tip dont fit malossi reed valves in my opinion as they are a pain is the bum.

when i said turning over i meant i could hear the starter motor working but, borrowed a kickstart from redvisionmonster today and after about 20 kicks it fired up and ran fine, after that it started first kick, it just wont fire up off the electric start. so i need to get a kickstart of my own now.

Okay... sounds like the bystater to me. Pull it and apply 12 volts... see if it moves out. This is called the enrichment circuit used to feed extra fuel during a cold start more or less. Can be had for about $20 online... best regards!
