AF05 wont run after installing Malossi BBK
Guys, I need some help getting the AF05 to run.
I took a previously running AF05, and installed a malossi BBK, Malossi head, and Malossi jet in the previous carb.
I installed everything, and went to fire it up. I used a tad of ether, and it did fire, however then stops. The plug continues to fuel foul.
I play with the idle, and air screws, but still nothing.
The longest it ran was about 45 seconds, but even in that time, twisting the throttle has only a tiny bit of effect on it.
Air box is completely re installed.
The only thing I can think of is the jet is wrong (mallosi jet came with kit), or the reeds are bad I havnt inspected them on the new motor.
Anything will help, need to get this running, as it is my daily driver.

The jet from malossi is not for the US bikes. Get a 88 jet from a 88-93 elite lx or sr

Should I put the stock jet back in to see if it will run?

I believe so, looks the same as the stock, just different sized hole
Re: AF05 wont run after installing Malossi BBK
I dont think even in another country you could run that jet, the location wont change the fact its too small, or maybe in italy where the kit was manufactured it will run with that jet supplied? Italy is the same elevation as the area I live in for the most part so I doubt a change in location will matter, but its possible.
Speaking from personal experience with that kit and that engine I wouldnt use the stock carb. Thats just my personal experience with that exact engine, kit, carb, and jets. Running a 88 jet for long might not be a good idea. I ran a 95 jet with my stock carb and stock exhaust, and it sucked and ran horrible compared to a 24mm oko 45 pilot and 118 main and Ct manifold with adapter plate I made.
Try it and let us know what your experience is with the 88 jet like baka recommended.
And stop using ether on your 2 stroke, its going to burn up the piston.

Okay, no more ether!
Trying to source an #88, found a kit that has 85, 90, 95 but no 88. Gonna call a few honda dealers.
Will clip position help? Even if I can get the d*** thing to run for a few minutes I can eliminate reed malfunction.
24mm OKO and 45 pilot 118 main and CT manifold is out of the budget for now.

Greetings:
MJH787s has gone where No Man Has Gone Before; found an Aftermarket source for PA carb jets. Based on the pic and the "for PA carb" heading, I've gotta believe they're the Genuine Article. Incredible! Mouse O Master of WikiSpreedia, please enshrine the link for posterity.
MJH now should search for "the meaning of life...". Or at least those mini-jets for the OKO Powerjet-equipped 24mm carbs.

Re: AF05 wont run after installing Malossi BBK
There is a difference between the jet shown in the link vs Keihin PA carbs we have in Sprees/AF05/AF16's. I think we've looked into this, the jet shown is looks like a Ruckus style.
The jet is slotted on the skinny end for the linked jets.
JetsRUs
The jet is slotted on the fat end for our scooters. The difference may prevent the main jet from snuggin up on the emulsion tube, Jet may bottom out on carb threads first.
I'll post a better photo of a PA jet from home tonight, this is from the wiki carb topic.

Re: AF05 wont run after installing Malossi BBK
Okay, here is the plan for right now.
1) Try to find the d*** stock jet I pulled out
2) Check the airbox rubber boot and make sure 100 percent seal
3) Play with the clip positions (feedback)
4) Keep rotating the 3 plugs I have as they keep fuel fouling
I cant tell what Wheelman was saying, Ill take it all as a compliment.

Re: AF05 wont run after installing Malossi BBK
Greetings:
The ONLY clip position for a stock carb on a BBK is "Full-Rich". You play a bit with the idle mixture screw if it runs raggedy at idle.
I was saying if you can find Aftermarket PA jets, you might find the true meaning of life. Evidently a false alarm. The other Unobtainables are the different OKO "Mini-Jets" that sit under an OKO carb PowerJet feature. Never seen 'em.
