Should I drop oil injection?

Post by 1dan57 »

My friend said I should drop oil injection on my "88 Honda Elite E unmodded and instead mix my gas. Should I? Anything I should know before hand? Will it improve/damage my scooter? Thanks in advance.
Also I am looking to put taz's BBK on it. Just an FYI.

Greetings:

Honda-san has carefully crafted a reliable (mostly) and effective Autolube equivalent for your SB50. In typical Honda fashion, the bike will perform for a long time with minimal ash on the spark plug and no fuss at the gas pump. For an UN-Modded scooter, leave it alone unless (until?) it starts leaking. The leak goes into the crankcase, and manifests itself by a cloud of smoke you can see from Space if it sits a few days between startup.

Once you modify things, the pump is no longer suited to the BBK. At that point, find and install a pump plug and run straight 32:1 premix with a good synthetic oil and Premium pump gas.

Well the main reason I was going to do it was because I think my carb was flooded with oil. And my scooter wont start and if it does it will die really quick. It smokes with each kick. Electric start wont work usually does.. So can that be the problem of what you are describing?

leaky oil pump wont cause the carb to be flooded with oil... only oil in the tank will cause that. But the kick smoke you are describing sounds like a leaky pump. Pull the pump and look down the hole if you see oil its leaking.
