Question is: Can I run without a ''valve set starter'' ?

"Valve set starter" is the description Honda uses in the parts fiche, for example the NQ50. Honda's NQ50 Service Manual uses the term 'Auto Bystarter' when referring to the same part.
Can I run without a ''valve set starter'' ?
Running with no bystarter will make the scooter run lean, it will create an air leak.

There is a manual replacement for the by starter available, but why go with out any by starter or the like when they are so cheap.

I am running with my bystarter overidden. I switched the internal spring to keep the internal needle closed. Don't run completely without as it will have an air leak.

I just bought my Spree and the previous owner take the bystarter off and he puts some silicon :crazy:

At least silicone is easy to remove and clean off to put a by starter on it, could have been JB Weld in there, yikes
