I have an 86' Spree and I just brought it out after storing it for the winter. I was wondering since the battery is dead (I did keep it inside and warm) can you start the spree?
Thanks,

Re: Battery needed to kickstart?
No problem - A battery is not required to start/run. Nice to have a kickstart, early Spree's had none ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

Don't need a battery to kick start your scooter ![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)
If the battery is dead you should leave it in until you get a new one or charge it.

Re: Battery needed to kickstart?
Ah okay, any thoughts on why it isn't starting then? I bought a new battery also haven't popped it in yet. It sat all winter in a shed with an empty gas tank and no battery.
Re: Battery needed to kickstart?
Also very important to empty the carburetor bowl when storing for winter.
The gas in the bowl will evaporate and leave the jets, etc. plugged by Spring.
Take the airbox loose from carb and put some premix fuel down the carb, then try to start.
Best not to use ether-based starting fluid due to the lack of lubricants.
You should check the end of the muffler to make sure insects haven't clogged it with dirt.
They do that.
If engine starts when priming with fuel, but fails to continue running, clean carb.

Re: Battery needed to kickstart?
Thank you sir! I will try it out and post my results. Would something like seafoam be beneficial?

Update:
Got the new battery in, got a fresh tank of gas and cranked the * of out it, after about 20 seconds of sputtering she ran strong! I think the carb was gunked up and it just needed to get some pressure through it! Thanks for the help!
