I have a white Iowa Spree, and I want to paint the floorboard tread black. I DO Not want to replace with a black board. Has anyone tried rattle-can spray on bedliner for this, or have any other suggestions?

all spray paint basically sucks. and much worse on high wear areas. i would not attempt. i would either replace with a black one, or sand all the bumps out of it, and use skateboard grip tape. which would eventually fail also i would imagine. both should cost about the same.

I've used Krylon Fusion spray cans on my Spree and it seems to be holding up pretty well. Lightly sand all of it before hand, that way the paint will have something to grip on to. Just make sure and do plenty of coats especially on the floorboard.

I'll try the fusion. I've had good luck with it too. The off-white color matches my 84 perfectly, I just hate the white floorboard-I'm going black on the tread. A floorboard from a black spree doesn't look the best.

Fusion works well on parts that dont have contact like the floor board. I think you will be touching it up. White parts are hard to come by, why not try painting a black one and trimming it out white then your feet wont wear out the paint.

Good idea. I may know where two of those are too. I recently acquired an aftermarket petcock cover in black from a member here on ebay. It painted up perfectly with primer, a coat of white, and a coat of off-white.
