Some advice please ? I think it's heat related

Hey folks
I have been playing around with my '83 Aero80
slowly getting it better
had a CR80 carb on it, with a homemade intake
got rid of all that and put on a 24mm OKO with the new shiney intake and everything
right now, only the jets that it came with a 45 and a 107
i have some larger mains, but the smaller mains are on order
As i understand i should be running a 98 or somewhere around there
i am getting a new belt in the next few days as well, would be putting it on today, but may not go out in the rain
i had the red cone filter on the carb (the one it came with)
and found the other day in the rain, it got water logged and died on me
so i went back to the foam unifilter i had on the old carb (but haven't riden too much in the rain since then)
what i am finding now, is after about 10-15 minutes of riding the bike starts to bog down really bad
if i shut it off for ten minutes, it's fine again, for a bit
can you guys give me some ideas of what i can try to fix this ?
i saw a few threads here talking about taping off the filter to restrict the air, i had almost assumed i wasn't getting enough air because i had a 107 main jet, but now that i think about it, i wonder if that's part of my problem
also, when i got it, it had no inner fender or heat covers on the engine or anything
so i have some heat floating around in the backend i wonder if that is affecting things as well
but would have thought cooler would be better, should i remove the one shroud i do have ?
any ideas you folks could share would be great
I have very limited funds, so purchasing more parts is out of the questions currently
but night be able to figure out something in a pinch (fab some plastic ?)
