carb jets?

Post by farva »

so ill be getting a 50mm (82cc) kit in the next couple of days

http://www.ebay.com/itm/221034778446?ss ... 1497.l2649

im now curious about why you guys choose carbs and jets.

for example if i asked what size carb should i get. - what would your answer be and why the mm you chose.

also if i said what jets should i start with on a 21mm oko(which is what im leaning towards), what would your answer be and why.

any and all advise is greatly appreciated

thanks guys

ok.... i have the 50mm piston and jug. Im about ready to open up the boost port. Im hoping to have the carb and intake by the time the bottom end comes back from the tank. so ill just ask the simple question.

i have a 2001 honda elite sr50 with a derestricted exhaust and a 82cc kit. what size carb do i need. and what size jets should i start with if im using a cone filter?

feel free to lmk if i need anything else

Any 50mm BBK will have a bigger exhaust pipe (~34mm), so your stock exhaust system won't fit any more. Bigger exhaust+bigger carb means your CHT will go through the roof, so watch that you don't totally incinerate your handiwork! You MUST go extra rich to start, otherwise you could melt your new piston. Then carefully lean it with smaller jets, checking the plug after each jet change, until it's under control. You'll need at least a couple of larger-than-stock jets to start with. With a stock carb, begin with #100 jet, work down to #95 or #90. Work patiently. With the OKO carb, you'll need to adjust the numbers.

So i can use the stock carb? can you elaborate a little about tuning: monitoring the spark plug ( im asuming to check for rich/lean mixture)

Also. Where or what should i be looking for with the exhaust?

Thanks a bunch for all the info

The Scorpion is for the smaller 72cc BBK. The 50mm (89cc) BBK will have a 34mm exhaust flange on the jug and the Scorpion won't fit. Measure everything carefully else you'll end up with a lot of stuff that doesn't fit.
