Is this cylinder toast?

Hi all, I am working on an 87 Elite SE50 engine. The piston was frozen in the cylinder - I got it out, and gave the cylinder an acid bath. At first examination, the inside looked great - a little honing and ready to go. But then I noticed some problem areas around the top. Now I am debating as to whether or not it is usable and would like to hear opinions:

Greetings:

You mean the beveling of the cylinder edge, correct? The only problem I would expect is if the cylinder top isn't dead flat, might interfere with gasket seal. Lapping compound using the head would ensure tight gasket.

I'd roll the dice on that.

I agree with wheelman on that :-). The rings don't go up that far so the lapping trick should totally fix it. Nice tip Wheelman :-)

That is correct. Thanks all - encouraging feedback and suggestions to improve my odds - just what I wanted to hear.

I'll pick up some lapping compound today and try it out - thx Wheelman.

Quick update:

Glad I listened - used the valve grinding compound and "rolled the dice".

Runs great - thx

Wait a minute - are you suggesting that the crate is not Honda OEM...

I should charge for the advertising. :naughty:

It was on my NH125 Aero - fits NB50 Aeros and the Elite - looks like it will fit my 2001 Elite also - but not my 85 Aero 80.

Cartoon character Breezly Bruin

Hey breaze, you sold the Urban, didn't you ?

Uncanny resemblance - strange though, I consider myself quite the old cartoon trivia buff but don't remember ol Breezly. Might have to have my first avatar...

Didn't sell the Urban - funny, got very little interest - maybe priced too high. I love it though and it turned out great, just don't see getting it out that often - 30 - 35 just isn't enough around here.
