Hi all!
I was riding my Elite 80 2 days, no problems whatsoever. On the way home that day it begin to pour while I was riding. I made it home with no problems and the scoot had power the whole ride as normal.
Today, I tried to start and it would fire. Not a cough, nothing. I pulled the panels and the plug and it appears that I'm not getting any spark at all. I pulled the off/run switch. There were spider webs but I could see that there was still some shiny metal right where the switch makes contact. Tried for spark again at the plug and nothing.
Not sure where to turn to next? CDI?
I have a digital meter and not afraid to use it. Just need to know the diagnoses order and values!
I rely on it delay and it has served.
Thanks,
Eden

Hi,
I'm still seeking suggestions on the order to track down the problem. Anyone have any ideas?
If not I think I'm just going to replace the CDI?
Thanks,
Eden

I have had problems where the spark plug cap and the cable come together. Try unscrewing the cap from the cable, spray contact cleaner in there, and screw it back together. Then you can unplug and reconnect the CDI, and the contacts at the coil. Lots of times it's dirty contacts.

Well, im gonna give this another go.
Almost been a year not being able to use my scooter. I ordered a used cdi, ignition control module and rectifier and still no spark.
I bought a new multimeter and im ready to test. Whats the best order to isolet?

Sure, you have the multimeter. Also - check the ignition coil primary and secondary resistances. Can anyone help as to what to check next. Im almost thinking a stator at this point?
-- Stator
There are two tests in the Honda Service Manual for the stator related to ignition function.
1) Exciter Coil - generates high voltage (300+ V) to charge CDI capacitor.
2) Pulse generator coil - triggers discharge of capacitor within the CDI into the ignition coil primary.
Of the two above coils, the pulse generator is the most robust.
-- Ignition coil

Have you tried starting it with another spark plug?
