So, under the assumption that whatever was wrong with my spree had to do with the carb... i took it off and apart. And now when i put it back together, i cannot figure out how the piston mechanism works... the piston won't go all the way down into the shaft it gets stuck when it's flush with the point of entry. Any ideas what the hang up is? The shaft and piston appear to be clear of obstruction...
I guess it might be helpful to know how this works... any suggestions?
can you elaborate? i can get it in the shaft, but only flush with the threading... are you saying twist it 180 once it's in the shaft?
i can get it down further, but it requires force... is this normal? at what position should the little metal tube (that holds the throttle cable) be when i reassemble the carb?
finally, is it weird that my carb is really clean on the inside? this is an '86 spree...
dont force it! just turn it 180 degrees, theres notches on both sides of that piston, on with an incline to adjust idle speed, the other side is just to snug it in there, you dont have it in the right way
i see! i didn't need to turn it 180 degrees, rather FLIP it 180. i had the wrong end going in. STUPID!
also, should the float move on it's own when i tilt the carb upside down and back? it can be moved but won't move out of the level position without me helping it...
