Honda Spree and Elite 50 Forums

Hello all. I got a 87 spree about 2 months ago and "all it needed was a battery and a key". I never got the key but found out how to hot wire it and surprisingly the scooter fired right up! I felt like a total badass. The scooter itself is in rough condition but nothing to crazy. Anyway, I ordered a few replacement parts (Rectifier, filter, and CDI) and now the thing will not start up. It will turn but will not start with the kick starter or when the ignition button is pressed. The engine turns but will not run. I put back on the original parts and it still nothing. The battery is good, the fuse is good, I have no clue what to do. I literally only took off the parts that I ordered. I have the manual printed, Ive checked every connection possible. Did I short something out when I hot wired it? Did I even hot wire it right? I've searched the crap out of this forum since I've had this thing and my Google-fu is pretty good. I still can't figure it out. Thanks in advance.
