I just bought new reeds because the old ones were junk... I am trying to rebuilt it and I am wondering is there a right way to put the reeds in or does it not mater?

Are you replacing the stock reeds with aftermarket? Generally you just want to flip them over from side to side and if one side sits flatter/seals better, then you are good. If you are using something like Boyesen dual stage reeds, sump the original Reed stop and use the metal piece that comes with them. Generally there is a torque spec for these, but I just usually use a little bit of locktite on the screws and give them a decent hand tightening.
