My elite s has a disk front set up with the elite s stem and ZX triple tree
The problem is it's been about 4 months since I got the stem out on and now after maybe every couple days after riding the handle bars get loose so I have to tighten the nuts. What's the problem ?

Re: Elite stem loose
Are you using Loctite or similar thread locker to lock the threads?

Oh no I don't I just tighten both the large but and smaller but as tight as I can but it still gets loose. So i should apply loctite on the threading of the stem ? and which loctite do i use ?

Re: Elite stem loose
I use Loctite 243 - medium strength. Comes as a blue liquid in a red bottle (some people call it the "the blue one")
It stops stuff vibrating loose and you can still undo the fastenings using hand tools.
Stronger Loctite is available but needs heat to break the bond.

Re: Elite stem loose
Blue loctite. But you shouldn't be having to do this. Tighten the bottom nut to 16 NM and top to 35 NM and you won't have any issues.
