so after installing a bbk i have a clearance issue fitting the left side shroud.

Image

i know i'm not the first or the last by far to have this issue but what does everyone do to prevent the shroud from melting from contact?

thanks in advance, this forum is probably more polite and helpful than any car forum i have been a part of.

:peace:

On my bike I just cut out the shroud to fit the plug I forgot how, and tried to keep the shroud tight. My shroud is still loose bcuz missing rivets, but she go no problems so far knock on wood. Im just a cruzer tho

:coolcruise: I ground a little off the cooling fins to get clearance. I don't think it took very much.

I don't know how I feel about grinding away from the fins... I would maybe make a duct tape and cardbord extender sides and stuff but the whole cutting the fins things makes me cringe.

What if i spaced it with washers? I still need to cut a fair amount where the intake manifold doesnt clear but i could maybe space it out for the rest

That would work perfectly, just make use to watch for cracks as you tighten it down.

so im going to need to cut about 1/2 of the left shroud, to allow the ct mani to clear...

Image

the best idea i have had so far is to space it out this much so it doesnt make contact, is this too much to fill in with aliminum tape?

Image

there will still be a decent gap ontop of the manifold from where i need to cut...

^^I'll second that. My ct mani was so far off I would of needed that spray foam they use in houses for drafts to seal it up. It must have been close to a 1/16" off flat. Image
Here's what it looked like after 20 or 30 min of sanding on a flat piece of glass w 120g

I do too, I wanted to bring it uptake other day in the other thread.

But, besides I would try to just make a thick gasket.

I did make a thicker gasket jumps. I used felpro intake manifold & carb gasket on a roll from oreillys. Made new gaskets for every surface. And I still sanded it flat. I'm not tryin to pull that thing back off to fix an air leak haha.
I knew you guys were gonna say somethin about my coffee cup. It was my b-day present from my son and girlfriend last year. Nobody noticed the salt though...

It's a make-your-own mug from Starbucks btw, you draw what you want on it then you bake it.

it does look crude but it allows the CT mani to fit and clears the bore.

It may look crude but it works, thats the important part. Patch up the leftover spots with a little tape, or the orginal plastic cute to size. you can also recycle that front fender that is broken with a heatgun and form it to fit the shroud.
