Variator Weights

My Variator weights have flat spots which I am assuming is hindering my top speed (stock Aero 50 with restrictor plate removed)

What weight do folk recommend replacing them with?

Greetings:

If it's like the US model, stock was 10 grams. You should purchase 7s, 8s and 9s and experiment. A Keli variator is a cheap upgrade. More pricey Malossi and Polini options for slightly better performance.

Ah, see its a UK version, actually a honda vision x as we call it, still an nb50.

Think in the UK they has 7.5g weights... so say for example 9g weights, they would give slower take off but more top end?

Greetings

I recommend you purchase a gram scale and be sure of the current weights. Heavier weights, with all else being equal, will lower the RPM while the scooter is gathering speed as the variator shifts. It won't make the scooter faster. Lighter weights will raise the RPM, which may or may not improve low-speed performance depending on where your stock engine makes its best power. Generally lighter weights do not reduce top speed unless the engine's max RPM occurs before the variator fully shifts.
