It seems that whole situation with the fuse and what not leached whatever power was left, out of my battery. Plus the kickstart is finicky because of the cold. Is there a battery that you guys like more than others? Also the only place i can think of to get a batt is my local honda dealer but I don't want to spend a bundle if I don't have to. Any suggestions?

Try your local auto parts store, and independant cycle shops. JC Whitney sells them, but you have to find your own battery acid (lawn and garden places sell this, Walmart might too.) Meiers sells this stuff, but it's a midwestern chain.

I have to buy the acid seperately? I never knew that. Are you sure I can't just buy a batt and stick it in? I feel really Noob right now. :)

no.no.no. jc whitney is a catalog. they dont sell it with acid because they are not allowed to ship hazzardous materials. if you buy a batt at an auto parts dealer it comes with acid. but you have to put it in yourself. i got mine at napa auto parts for $20. i also bought an oversized one to run the sterio, alarm exc.

Hey! vette76! Regarding the Napa battery. $20 sounds good to me. Which battery did you purchase? Did you need to alter terminals or make modifications of any kind? Does the Spree charging system charge it okay?

the batt works great. the only mod was the little plastic piece in the batt tray has to come out. it charges fine and works great for that amount of money.

vette76, is it a YB4L-B? Or did you just give them volt/amp specs and dimensions and match it up?

I found one at Fleet Farm but I later found one at Batteries Plus the one at batteries plus was sealed which I like a lot better. I dont have to worry about filling the acid or water later on.

havent heard of either one. i have found sealed batts have a shorter life span and dont stay charged as long.

So now that I have my scoot back I can replace the battery. I got the acid poured best as I could but I need to know about the charge. It asks me to give it a first charge using a 500m amp trickle charger. Is this really neccisary?
