My stock exhaust is missing the final tube that comes out of the body of the muffler. Just a 1" hole there. Runs loud. I was thinking of adding a silencer. Looking through the hole into the body of the muffler, I see a 1/2" tube. Would I need to connect directly to that or do I weld to the conical back of the muffler?

I would just get a new one, I've played with a few that had been opened up and never got a decent run with any. Looks like you have the heat guard, that's worth more than the pipe in my opinion, mine are all missing that. I have an extra pipe I'm not doing anything with if you're interested.

This man's experience sounds like good advice.
I'd buy a good pipe before wasting time only to find that he was right.

If money is No Object I would buy a new pipe.
If you have no money, you can weld a short piece of round tube in there. I'm pretty sure it doesn't connect to the other pipe inside. GL

Ive got the exact same muffler sitting in the shed if you need it. Ill sell it for cheap cause 1 of the baffles are loose inside. I can hear it rattle unless i squeeze the end of the exhuast then the rattle is gone. Solid peice though to get your spree back on the road. :)
